Pets
Do our pets need medication?
Of course we would like to avoid medication for our pets as much as possible. But that doesn't always work out. Our pets also need medication to get well quickly. With the right medication, our pets recover faster and, most importantly, with less stress. If your pet is suffering from severe pain, the first thing to do is treat the source of the pain. The pain often persists even after the source has been found and treated. So that the animal does not torture itself unnecessarily and is stressed, the administration of painkillers is also useful for animals. However, this should always be done in consultation with your veterinary practice.
How can I administer medication to my animal?
Only very few animals will swallow dosage forms such as tablets just like that. Often pets will even discover the tablets in their food and leave them over. Some tablets can be crushed in a mortar and mixed into the food. This works especially well with dogs. By giving the tablets in food, the medication is completely stress-free for the animals, which is very important. However, if this does not work, you can contact your veterinary practice. Often the dosage form is changed and the medication is injected. Creams or similar can be applied without any major problems.
Are medicines for humans also suitable for my animals?
No, not at all! Animals like dogs, cats and horses metabolise medicines differently than we humans do. Even herbal remedies for humans could, under certain circumstances, cause harm to animals. For this reason, you should only give your animals medicines for animals. You can find the appropriate medication in our veterinary medicine online shop.
How can I tell that my animal is ill?
Unfortunately, animals cannot tell exactly what is wrong with them. But all animals have one thing in common: they change their behaviour when they get sick. You should become attentive if your animal changes its drinking and eating behaviour. A change in temperament and reduced activity are also frequently observed. Also pay attention if your pet has regular bowel movements and no problems urinating. In case of diarrhoea, fever, vomiting, coughing or sneezing, you should call your veterinary practice directly as a precaution.
