Weleda avoids long transport routes for the ingredients as much as possible. Most of the plant species used come from the company's own medicinal herb garden, which covers over 23 hectares and is located in Wetzgau. More than 800 medicinal plants grow in this garden, which are processed freshly harvested into tinctures for medicines and natural cosmetics. Medicinal plants that do not grow in their own garden come from controlled organic cultivation areas from all over the world. The sustainability aspect is also actively promoted by Weleda.

Weleda supports selected medicinal plant cultivation projects and is committed to the preservation and protection of habitats. Thanks to the high-quality raw materials and the gentle processing of these, the active ingredients of the plants are preserved, so that synthetic dyes, fragrances and preservatives can be dispensed with.
