What should be in the first-aid kit?
The contents of a first-aid kit vary depending on the destination. However, there are classics that should not be missing from any first-aid kit. We have listed the most important medicines that should be in your first-aid kit:
Individual medicines
Do you already suffer from a chronic illness or are you prone to certain complaints? Make sure you have sufficient quantities of these medicines. Medicines for allergies should also be packed. Also remember to take medicines for herpes, heartburn and fungal infections if you suffer from these ailments frequently. It is better to take too many medicines with you on holiday than too few.
Clinical thermometer
The head is hot and on holiday the nearest clinical thermometer is often far away. Therefore, a travel thermometer should always be with you.
Disinfectant
Disinfectant, which can be used on skin as well as objects, is indispensable on holiday.
Bandages
Plasters, gauze bandages, adhesive tape, wound compresses, splinter tweezers and triangular bandages are not only important in the car, but also in your first-aid kit.
Painkillers
If you suffer from aching limbs, headaches, toothaches or other aches and pains on holiday. Then you want to be pain-free as soon as possible. The holiday days are simply too precious. For this reason, typical painkillers should be in your first-aid kit. We recommend paracetamol.
Expand your first-aid kit
In addition to the classic travel medicines, we recommend other medicines to be prepared against as many complaints as possible. Good preparation is especially important on holiday. In addition to the travel medicines described above, we also recommend medicines for:
- Nausea
- Diarrhoea
- constipation
- insect bites
- Bruises and strains
- Common cold
- Sore throat
- Eye complaints
- Sunburn
If you are travelling to malaria areas, we recommend that you carry malaria tablets. Syringes and cannulas in different sizes are also useful if you are travelling in remote areas. Before each trip, make sure that your first-aid kit is complete. You should also check the expiry date of the medicines. Opened bandages should be replaced.
