Niclosamide (the active ingredient) inhibits the parasite's internal respiration and the head and subsequent limbs die. As a result, the link chain loses its hold and comes off as a whole or in smaller parts when defecation occurs. It is used for infections with Beef tapeworm (Taenia saginata) Pork tapeworm (Taenia solium) Fish tapeworm (Diphyllobothrium latum) Dwarf tapeworm (Hymenolepis nana) Contraindications The product must not be taken if you are allergic to niclosamide or any of the other ingredients of this medicine, if you are breastfeeding. Dosage Always take this medicine exactly as described here. exactly as agreed with your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure. Do not take the medicine for longer than the intended treatment time without medical advice. If you have taken more than you should No cases of overdose have been reported to date. If you forget to take it When treating dwarf tapeworm, do not take a double dose if you forget to take the previous dose, but continue taking it until the total intended dose is reached. If you stop taking it If you interrupt the 7-day dwarf tapeworm treatment, the parasite will likely not be completely killed and the treatment may not work. If you still want to stop the treatment on your own initiative, be sure to talk to your doctor or pharmacist beforehand. If you have any further questions about taking this medicine, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. Fertility/childbearing capacity There is no experience with the effect of niclosamide on fertility/childbearing ability. Application To be taken. Take the respective daily dose after breakfast. To do this, chew the tasty chewable tablets into a fine paste and then rinse the completely chewed tablets down with a little water. You can also take the chewable tablets dissolved in water. For smaller children, it is best to grind the chewable tablets into a fine paste and then give it to the child to swallow mixed with a little water. Notes: In particular, sour fruit juice such as: b. Orange juice can be very helpful in eliminating tapeworms. In principle, if you are constipated, you should ensure that you empty your bowels properly before treatment. A special diet is not required. If the tapeworm is to be expelled quickly and, if possible, in one piece following the therapy, this can be done at the earliest two hours after taking the chewable tablet (or for dwarf tapeworm after the last dose) strong saline laxatives such as Glauber's salt or Epsom salt are given. They lead to diarrhea-like stools and thus flush out the parasite. If not removed, the tapeworm will appear in individual pieces over the next few days. In the case of pork tapeworm infections, drastic drainage should be carried out. Interactions Taking together with other medicines Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using any other medicines, have recently taken/used any other medicines or might take/use any other medicines.
